There isn’t much not to like about Brandi Carlile. Her songs are straight forward and poignant. Her latest release, By the Way, I forgive you, Is highly excellent and top 20 worthy. For extra credit search out her epic cover version of Elton’s “60 Years On” from Live at Benaroya Hall with the Seattle symphony.

Rock Chick of the Day: Doe Paoro – Cage of Habits
Soft Power, the soon to be released record from Doe Paoro is one we are very much looking forward to hearing. Based in Los Angeles, her blend of R&B, Pop, and soul is an exciting combination.
Song of the Day: Erin Enderle – World Without Willie
I am not sure any of us would want to live in a world without Willie. In a world without Willie that whiskey river runs dry.
Video of the Day: Elise Davis – Don’t Bring Me Flowers
Elise Davis is another of those fine Nashville artists that deserve a larger following. Her new record, “Cactus,” lays her soul bare whether she is lamenting a one night stand in a motel as she does on “Hold Me Like A Gun,” or makes her romantic intentions known on the cinematic “Don’t Bring Me Flowers.” With a night like that who needs a honeymoon.
Rock Chick of the Day: Mikaela Davis – Do You Wanna Be Mine
If Stevie Nicks played the harp, she would sound exactly like this. Yeah, exactly like this, and it’s great.
Rock Chick of the Day: Beth Hart – Swing My Thing Back Around
Beth Hart is a consistent favorite of ours. Here’s hoping a new record is just around the corner.
Rock Chick of the Day: Doro – All For Metal
Doro raises the roof on this Heavy Metal Anthem. With apologies to Lizzie Gale, Doro, Decades into her career, is the reigning supreme goddess of Metal.
MTV Video of the Day: Pat Benatar – I’m Gonna Follow You (Number 30)
Pat Benatar’s “I’m Gonna Follow You” was the 30th video to be played on the fledgling television network.
Rock Chick of the Day: Mitski – Nobody
The new record, Be the Cowboy, is highly superb. The vibe with Mitski is part Cat Power part Jenny Lewis, and all cool.
Rock Chick of the Day: Odetta Hartman – Widow’s Peak
The vibe here is a totally entrancing one of Indie Appalachian Pop. If there is no such genre, there is now. The new record is called Old Rockhounds Never Die, and it is a slow burner stunner of a record. Multiple listens will reward the listener with the discovery of a new favorite artist.
