There is a slight Disco vibe to this new Real Estate single, but don’t let that stop you from treating your ears to this highly infectious tune.
Category: Of the Day
Video of the Day: Anna Burch – Not So Bad
Her songcraft was introduced to us with her 2018 debut, Quit the Curse, now, two years later her follow-up promises to be a much more nuanced affair.
Video of the Day: The Third Mind – Claudia Cardinale
A Supergroup of sorts, the band includes Dave Alvin, Jesse Sykes among others. The concept for the group centers around the Miles Davis method, a technique where there are no rehearsals or written musical arrangements. The band simply decides on a key and the music flows from there. The sound is very much influenced by the ’60s underground scene including Roky Erickson, Alice Coltrane, and Michael Bloomfield. Look for an E.P. to be released February 2020.
Video of the Day: Jimmy “Duck” Holmes – All Night Long
Another great find from Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound, Jimmy “Duck” Holmes is almost the very definition of The Mississippi Delta.
Video of the Day: The Darkness – In Another Life
Justin Hawkins and The Darkness show that they can take it low and slow with this ballad from their 2019 record, Easter Is Cancelled.
Video of the Day: The Picturebooks – You Can’t Let Go (feat. Chrissie Hynde)
This bad-ass Blues Rock two-piece mellows their vibe only slightly on this collaboration with The Pretenders Chrissie Hynde.
Live Video of the Day: Marcus King and Dan Auerbach – Beautiful Stranger (Live at Easy Eye Sound)
Two of my favorite artists performing live from Easy Eye Sound, our favorite record label. Marcus Kinging is getting ready to release his solo debut later this year.
Video of the Day: Alison Krause and Robert Plant – Gone, Gone, Gone
From the highly excellent record Raising Sand from way back in the day, circa 2007. Plant and Krause were the best Rock God/Americana Icon pairing this side of Emmylou and Mark Knopfler.
Live Video of the Day: Beth Hart – Woman Down (Unplugged at Home)
Just Beth and her piano, live from Beth’s House.
Live Video of the Day: Dave Alvin – Johnny Ace Is Dead (Live From Darryl’s House)
Here, live from Darryl’s House, Dave Alvin weaves the tale of the last night on earth for Johnny Ace.
